Save Martha! For Martha Stewart fans

Happy Mother's Day Martha,
I have great admiration for you, always have. The ultimate professional, talented, creative, aiming for perfection. An attractive personality on your TV show, smiling, pretty, you know what you are doing, your voice is an easy pitch to listen to. Your magazine was innovative in its beautiful softly-colored photography which is what tempted me to buy it every month - a calming feast for the eyes which has been totally copied by "Real Simple" magazine.

Your products I have used are all first class (my favorite was some Egyptian cotton king size sheets from K-Mart, which I can't find now that I need another set). I think it is awful that your newspaper column (which taught me how to wash my down comforter) and your TV show have been terminated. I found you the most reliable source of practical information, and I don't know how to voice my objection to all that is being done to you professionally and personally. I can only pray that when sentencing comes around it will be as close to nothing as possible. I will be outraged if it a jail sentence and pray that never happens.

I am absolutely devastated the local CBS station is to take your show off the air next week! I have been a real fan and am a professional home economist.
I taught home economics for 32 years and retired last May (I'm 59) and have enjoyed getting to see you every day this year. (I watched you even a school when I had an early planning period. I could still work and watch your show!)

I would like to add that I have been a fan of yours from the very begining. I can remember when I would talk about you and no one knew who I was talking about. Now everyone knows who you are. I would like you to know that I have used many of your ideas, for example the heart in the hand cookies. I would give my childrens Grandmothers the cookies for Christmas and they just loved them. My daughter is almost 20 now and I still have the cutout of her hand that we made the cookies with and I can't tell you how very special that memory is for me.

I will never stop buying your products from KMart and my sisters feel the same about this. If they stop selling your items, I see no reason to even shop at kMart any longer. As far as I'm concerned your things are the only reason I shop there. I am so terribly sorry for what you are going through, everyone I talk to feel that you do not deserve this.

My husband and I have enjoyed your television programs very very much, and although they are not available for us here in L.A., our daughter tapes them in OHIO and sends them to us. We plan our day around the food network program Martha's kitchen, at 6:30 pm.

Our marriage counselor a psychologist has pointed out that my depression over Martha Stewart not being on the t.v. in L.A. at 9am weekdays is because she was a mother figure to me. And maybe she is right. She teaches us to see and appreciate beauty and value in so many things. She(Martha ) giggles with the children on the show and shares preparing food with her own mother. And I thought Alexis did a marvelous job when she was on Larry King Live. (So did you and your mother, your sister and Sophie.) Alexis is very articulate and I was so impressed with how well she handled the interview; I just regret she couldn't have been on sooner!

I have subscribed to your magazine since the very first issue. I have read "Remembering" every issue and it feels like a "good friend" is going through all this terrible ordeal. It has all been SO unfair but you are handling everything really well, which is no surprise to those of us who "know" you. (I remember reading about your Wall Street job, Brian Dennehy...and the fellow who convinced you to buy McDonald's stock!)

A couple of my friends call me 'Martha' because everyone says I look like you (I think it's the casual hairdo, chinos and chambrey shirts!) and they know I admire you. Like you, I have a multi-generation family. You and I are about the same age but my mom is 94 (doing well!) and I have a daughter...I have a son as well. They both have children so we are four generations. I hope you will be able to enjoy that one day!

And your product line at K*Mart is great...I have quite a few of your flower and garden things. (Love my big sprinkler!! It looks so pretty just sitting by my Martha Stewart wicker chair!) Just yesterday I bought zinnia, morning glory and moon flower seeds. Those moon flowers are wonderful! I've had them the past two years...had never seen them before!
