Should Martha Stewart Settle?

Send Us Your Thoughts

Dear Save Martha,
The only way Martha should settle is if she can reach agreement without admitting guilt. I heard a former Gov't Prosecutor on The O'Reilly Factor, who said if she ever admitted guilt to wrongdoing, she would go to jail.

Personally, I don't think she did anything, anyone else wouldn't do under the same circumstances. I mean its not like she sold all of her stock. Martha has suffered enough. I, for one, enjoy her shows very much and would be devasatated if I was unable to tune her in. Martha is an icon in the world of the modern homemakers. She cannot be replaced. I wish these government headhunters would spend their time going after big corporate CEO's who steal employees pensions, rather than picking on Martha. Hang in there!

Dear Save Martha,
I can not say whether Martha should or should not settle. I am not an attorney, nor privilege to all the true information concerning the suit. However, I am and always will be a big fan of her. She is wonderful and very talented. I support her regardless of what the outcome. I am very angry at how she has been treated. I think the media is ruthless and unfair, and even perhaps a bit jealous. Hang in there Martha, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear SaveMartha,
No don't settle , I think the "powers that be" have gone over the top in going on with this. On the other hand it could get very costly to go on with the fight, and settling may be the sensible thing to do........Live to fight another day ! Cheering Martha on regardless!

Dear Save Martha,
She should fight this! I feel Martha has become a target because she's a strong, successful woman who is invading the all boys club of corporate America. How obscene for our government to waste my tax dollars attempting to find a problem with Martha when Enron and similar companies have damaged so many people, for so many times more money than this persecution is trying to prove.
I completely support Martha in whatever decision she makes. I'm sure it will be the correct one.
Thank You, Bill Tinkler

Dear Save Martha, Don't you dare settle. You've had to fight for almost everything in your life. Don't stop now!
Best of luck!!! A fellow survivor :-)

Dear Save Martha,
I think that this is an absolute waste of time on the part of our judicial system. Martha may have made a bad choice but she did not steal people's pensions and savings or steal from her stock holders, at the very worst she acted on a tip, it happens every day. I say go after the thieves from Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, Quest etc. etc. These people committed grand larceny. These people are criminals who are enjoying the good life while everyone around them is taking the fall. I guess when it comes down to it, "Martha was just not sleeping with the right people"

Dear Save Martha,

The diva of class should tell the good old boys on the hill to kiss her a--. In my 59 years, I have never seen such class, structure as that presented by Martha. Thanking you, "My Lady" of Class.

Dear Save Martha,
Whether or not Martha should settle is up to her and her attorneys, and of course, whoever is making her an offer to settlle. To ask the public such a broad question, without the details as to whom she is settling with, and on what conditions, and what future ramifications there might be, is just a solicitation of meaningless answers. I think there are many, much more pertinent questions to be asked. Such as: Is Martha being singled out and treated unfairly, due to her fame? My answer -- YES. Is the public, or at least some segment of it, glad to see someone of her wealth and position, brought to shame and subjected to public ridicule? YES. Are there many serious crooks out there that the Justice Department and the Media should be focusing on, rather than on Martha Stewart? YES Has Martha Stewart helped the American public focus on some important, and long overlooked values, such as taking an enjoyment in homemaking, cooking, sewing, decorating and even taking better care of our pets, just to name a few? YES Has Martha Stewart worked hard to get where she is (was) and even to this day (in spite of her wealth) worked hard, right out in front of the public on television, which has made her a good role model for many, many of us? YES, YES, YES!
Lastly, why don't they just leave her alone? BECAUSE SHE IS AN EASY TARGET TO GO AFTER FOR SOME PROSECUTOR WHO IS TRYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR HIM OR HERSELF!
